What’s warm and pink and chirpy?

Mr & Mrs Bullfinch…

Colourful visitors this morning, shining like fireworks in the monochrome landscape. Beautiful little birds, such welcome winter visitors.

You can see he has a beakful of buds – from the corcodus (mirabel) tree outside my window.

Luckily all the cats are inside by the fire – last winter Hobbs caught a bullfinch who wasn’t paying attention – and after a good feed on plum buds, all pink and grey bullfinches flew off to another feast.

    • Good! The bullfinches only seem to come in the winter – or maybe that’s when they’re most visible. Hard to miss that stunning colour! I’ve not enhanced the colour at all – that’s the male bullfinch for you – real Schiaparelli pink. A delight to see.
